Typical recovery
Drains for 1–3 days; compression garment as directed; social recovery 2–3 weeks.
Recommended post-operative care
- 24-hour nursing for the first 24–48 hours
- Drain output recording and dressing changes
- Compression garment management
- Accompanied transportation to all early follow-ups
- Home assistance through the first week
What we watch for
- Head elevation and limited neck rotation are typically ordered
- Blood pressure control is important in the first 48 hours
- Hair washing usually begins only when the surgeon permits
